Terms of Service
The terms for using PatentStroke: accounts, credits, payments, your content, AI-generated drawings that you must review before filing, and the AI models we use.
Last updated: 2026-10-23
These terms are an agreement between you and PatentStroke ("we", "us") for your use of patentstroke.com and the PatentStroke app (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you use the Service for a company or law firm, you agree on its behalf and confirm that you may do so.
1. What PatentStroke does
PatentStroke uses AI models to turn product photos, hand sketches and text (such as method steps or claims) into black-and-white patent-style drawings, flowcharts and block diagrams, and lays them out on sheets for export as PDF, PNG or SVG.
PatentStroke is a drawing tool, not a law firm. We do not give legal advice, we do not review your application, and using the Service does not create an attorney-client or agent relationship.
2. AI output is for your review
Drawings are generated by AI models. They can leave out features, add details that are not in your invention, or get proportions wrong. The pre-export check covers layout rules such as margins, black and white, text height and numbering; it does not check whether a drawing is accurate or complete.
You are responsible for checking every drawing against your invention and against the rules of the patent office you file with before you submit it. Before an unwatermarked export we ask you to confirm that you have done so. We do not promise that any patent office will accept the drawings or that they meet the requirements of a particular filing.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy credits or a plan.
- Sign-up requires a verified email address or Google sign-in. Throwaway email domains are not accepted.
- One person, one free account. Creating extra accounts to collect free credits is not allowed.
- Keep your password safe; you are responsible for activity under your account.
4. Credits
- Generating a line drawing costs 10 credits; a flowchart or block diagram costs 5. The cost is shown before you generate.
- Free credits: 30 credits on the day you sign up, then 10 credits each following day (UTC). Free credits expire at the end of the day they are granted. Exports made with free credits only carry a "Preview" watermark.
- Monthly plans grant their credits each billing month; they are valid for 30 days and do not roll over.
- Yearly plans grant twelve months of credits at purchase, valid for one year.
- Credit packs are valid for 12 months from purchase.
- If a generation fails or times out, its credits are returned automatically and the refund appears in your credit history.
- Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred or resold, and are not refundable except as our Refund Policy says.
5. Plans and payments
Prices are listed on our pricing page in US dollars. Payments are processed by our payment processor, Waffo; taxes may be added where required. Until checkout opens, paid plans cannot be bought and every account uses free credits.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep the credits already granted until they expire. We will tell you in advance before we change the price of a plan you are subscribed to.
Refunds follow our Refund Policy.
6. Your content
"Your content" means the photos, sketches and text you provide and the drawings, diagrams and sheets the Service produces for you.
- You keep your rights in your content. As between you and us, the drawings generated for you are yours to use, including in patent filings, to the extent any rights exist in them.
- You give us permission to store, process and transmit your content only as needed to run the Service for you, including sending it to the AI models listed below.
- We do not use your content to train or fine-tune AI models, and we do not sell it, publish it or let search engines index it. See our Privacy Policy and Trust page.
- You confirm that you own the material you upload or are authorized to use it, as you also confirm when you upload a photo.
- Share links show a sheet set to anyone who has the link, without sign-in. You decide who receives a link and can turn it off at any time.
7. Acceptable use
You agree to follow our Acceptable Use Policy. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break it.
8. AI models used
The Service currently uses these models, reached through OpenRouter with data collection by model providers denied:
- Line art from photos: Google Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image.
- Line art from hand sketches: Google Gemini 3.1 Flash Image (Nano Banana 2).
- Drawing check: Google Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite.
- Flowcharts and block diagrams: Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite, with Google Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite as a fallback.
We may change models to improve quality or cost; when we do, we update this list and the one in our Privacy Policy.
9. Changes and availability
We work to keep the Service available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue a paid feature you bought, or the Service as a whole, we will refund the unused part of your purchase.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings → Profile. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or that we must close by law. If we close your account without cause, we will refund your unused paid credits.
11. Disclaimers
Except as stated in these terms, the Service and its output are provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some places do not allow these disclaimers, so they may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data or the loss of patent rights, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50 if that is more. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Indemnity
If you use the Service to upload material you are not allowed to use, or otherwise break these terms, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
14. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms we update the date at the top. For material changes we will notify signed-up users by email at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the new terms apply.
